This documentation is for Insight for Server/Data Center only.

You may configure some general settings for Insight. You find the configuration page in the "Jira Adminstration / addons" page. Look for "INSIGHT" and "Configuration".

Attribute default labelThe name to use as the object type attributes label for newly created object types.
Attribute default descriptionThe description to use as for object type attribute name.
Open Object dialog eventDetermines if the object dialog should open when a user click on an object link or when the user hover with the mouse over an object link
Default number of objects fetched in custom fieldsThis will limit the response of objects on each request, when using the Insight custom fields. Default is 25 objects and this is normally enough since when a user start typing in the field, another set of objects are fetched. Increasing this number will affect the performance since more objects needs to be fetched, and also the amount of data sent from server to client will increase. Change this with care!
Insight Audit Log enabledLog all Insight object events to an audit log file
Include attribute values in audit logInclude all attribute values of the object in the audit log. Requires the Insight Audit Log to be enabled
Restore Insight index from fileIncrease startup time by restoring Insight index from a file. Unchecking this will cause slower startup time but removes the risk of a potential corrupted index file causes data inconsistency. Default is to restore cache from file. If configured to Yes make sure that the Store cache on shutdown is set to yes as well. The file should be located in the path  {/var/atlassian/application-data/jira/caches/insight_indexes} OR {$JIRA_HOME/caches/insight_indexes}
Store cache on shutdownThis indicates that the Insight cache (index) should be persisted to file on Insight shutdown (plugin upgrade, JIRA restart, Insight disable). If the option Restore Insight Index from file is set to yes this should be set to yes as well. In some data center use cases this can be toggled to no.
Restrict Insight Cache

Limit the amount of objects allowed to be stored in Insight. This will limit the memory footprint by allowing only a limited number of objects to reside in the cache. The default and recommended way to use Insight is to not restrict objects in cache. The limit will have negative performance impact.

Changes to this setting require a restart of Jira.

Number of objects allowed in cache

Only this number of Insight objects will be allowed in the cache. This setting is only applicable if the Restrict Insight Cache is set to true. The recommended way is to not limit objects in cache.

Changes of this setting require a restart of Jira.

Maximum File upload sizeThe maximum file upload size in bytes when uploading files, images, attachments into Insight.
Insight parallelismIn how many threads should Insight divide the work when performing parallel tasks e.g. when importing data, re-indexing.
Use a custom locale for InsightIf the data stored in Insight should be sorted by a different locale than the Jiras default then toggle this option. This will render the object fetching slower.
Process data sources via temp files during importsTemporarily store data on disk when using the import modules to reduce memory footprint during import. (Available from version 5.5.7)
The locale for InsightThis setting determines which language Insight should use when sorting data.
