Creating a filter from object search results

After you have created your object search in IQL or FreeText, you can save it as a filter. A filter is a saved search that can be easily accessed and shared with your team.

 How to save an object search as a filter...

Save an object search as a filter to use it later, or to share it with your team.

  1. Click Insight > Search for objects.
  2. Create a new object search.
  3. Click Save as, at top-right.
  4. Complete the information in the Save filter dialog:
    1. Name - Required. Enter a name for this object search.
  5. Click Save at bottom.

Organize a library of filters

Searches that you have saved - or filters that have been shared with you - will appear as filters in the panel on the left of the Object search screen. This panel is divided into three parts:

  • FILTERS - displays All Objects in the object schema, or a list of all objects With unresolved tickets.
  • RECENT - displays recent filters.
  • FAVORITES - displays favorite filters.

To view all of your saved searches, or search for a particular saved search, click on Find more filters.

 How to find a filter...

Find a filter using it's name or the name of it's owner.

  1. Click Insight > Search for objects.
  2. In the sidebar at left, click Find more filters.
  3. Enter the name of the filter or it's owner in the search bar at top.
  4. Click on the search title to add it to the sidebar of Recent filters.

You can also use the sidebar to edit filters, delete filters, or add filters to favorites.

Edit a filter.

  1. Click Insight > Search for objects.
  2. In the sidebar at left, select the search you want to edit and click  at right.
  3. Click Edit.
  4. Make changes to the filter in the dialog box:
    1. Name - change the name of the search.
    2. Share this filter with others - share the filter with other Users or Groups.
  5. Click Update.

 How to delete a saved filter...

Delete a saved filter. Deleting a filter will remove it permanently.

  1. Click Insight > Search for objects.
  2. In the sidebar at left, select the filter you want to edit and click  at right.
  3. Click Delete.
  4. In the dialog box, confirm you want to permanently remove the filter by clicking Delete.

 How to add or remove a filter from favorites...

Add or remove a filter from a list of favorites.

  1. Click Insight > Search for objects.
  2. There are two ways to add a filter to the list of favorites: using the sidebar or using the Find more filters dialog:
  3. Using the sidebar:
    1. In the sidebar at left, select the filter you want to edit and click  at right.
    2. Click Add to favorites.
  4. Using the Find more filters dialog:
    1. Click Find more.
    2. In the dialog box, click on the star to the right of the saved filter to add or remove this filter from favorites.

Share a filter you have created with a user or group.

 How to share a filter...

Share a filter by granting view, edit, or delete rights to a user or group.

  1. Click Insight > Search for objects.
  2. In the sidebar at left, select the filter you want to share and click  at right.
  3. Click Edit.
  4. Under Share this filter with others, select a User or Group and then the permissions to grant:
    1. View - user or group can view this filter only.
    2. Edit - user or group can view and edit this filter.
    3. Delete - user or group can view, edit, and delete this filter.
  5. Click Update.
